Edgecombe County Memorial Library Summer Reading Program Schedule
(Storytime every Tuesday 10:30 am in Tarboro and Wednesday 10:30 am in Pinetops.)
June 21st—Summer Reading Program Kickoff 10:30 am
Our kickoff this year will once again be held at the Edgecombe Community College in the Keihin Auditorium. Registration will begin at 10:30 am and our performer will begin at 11:00 am. Our performer this year is Charles Pettee, a bluegrass musician and returning favorite
June 22nd—“Rocks, Minerals and Fossils” with Ronnie Daughtry. (Tarboro) 11:30 am
Retired teacher and principal Ronnie Daughtry will be coming to Tarboro and demonstrating the science behind rocks, minerals and fossils.
June 24th—Window Painting (Pinetops) 2 pm
Come paint the windows of the Pinetops Branch Library in scenes from an aquarium.
June 30th—Make a Splash @ the Movies “The Karate Kid” 9:30 am
The first 50 children to sign up and pay $2 for their drink and popcorn will get to go to the movies free @ this Parkhill Cinema showing in Tarboro. All other children must prepay $5. This includes food & drink. Parent cost for event is $4, plus cost of foods, to be paid at the movie theatre. The movie will be at Parkhill Cinema in Tarboro. Participants will need to be at the theatre by 9:30 am. Space is limited so sign up now.
July 1st—Ice Cream Sundae Party (Pinetops) 2 pm
The Lioness Club of Pinetops is sponsoring an Ice Cream Sundae Party at the Pinetops Branch Library.
July 6th—Make a Splash with Crafts (Tarboro) 11:30 am
Come join us for a variety of crafts for all ages. Imaginations required.
July 8th—Healthy Snacks (Pinetops) 2 pm
Regina from the NC Extension Department will talk about healthy snacking for kids.
July 12th—Make a Splash with Storyteller Ron Jones 11 am
This event will be held at the Edgecombe Community College in the Keihin Auditorium. Children and adults of all ages are invited to attend.
July 13th—Fancy Nancy Tea Party (Pinetops) 2 pm
The Lioness Club of Pinetops is sponsoring a tea party based on the Fancy Nancy books. Come dressed as your favorite character or dress in costume at the party.
July 15th—Make a Splash at the Aquarium (Pinetops) 2 pm
Since we can’t take Edgecombe County to the NC Aquarium we have brought the aquarium to Edgecombe County. Join us for the “Life of the Sea” program brought to you by the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. This program is sponsored in part by the Lioness Club of Pinetops.
July 20th—Birds love to Make a Splash (Tarboro) 11:30 am
Join us for a special presentation by the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park.
July 22nd—Fire Safety (Pinetops) 2 pm
The Pinetops Fire Department will be discussing fire safety and demonstrating some of their equipment and its uses. Can you say Fire Truck!
July27th— Last day to turn in Timed Reading Record Sheets.
July 29th—Summer Reading Program Wrap-up Party
Join us out at Indian Lake for our Summer Reading Program Wrap-up Party. There will be food, games and we will announce the top readers of the summer.
