2008 Events
April & May: Therapy Dog
(Cole will not be able to be at the library on May 7th, but will return May 14th.)
Read to the visiting library dog and practice your reading skills too. Beginning April 2008, Cole will be visiting the library each Wednesday, eager to hear stories read to him by children. Cole is an eight-year old male German Shepherd Dog. He is a registered Therapy Dog with Therapy Dogs International. In order to be a therapy dog he had to pass a series of tests to insure that he is safe and reliable in all situations and around all people. He has been a therapy dog for six years. He visits nursing homes every week. He has also done summer programs at the Rocky Mount YMCA to teach children how to be safe around dogs. His handler is Vicky Brown. Our Summer Reading Program Wrap-up Party will be held at ECC at 11am. Awards and prizes will be followed by a performance by Charles Pettee, a renowned Bluegrass performer.
